By her mother’s standards, Regina has clearly become weak by the time the curse got broken. In fact, this ‘weakness’ (her need to have a child, to love) was her downfall - as it brought the savior to town. When your own mother destroys all the love in your life, as a result it is entirely sad not knowing how to express it properly if you happen to have it in you again.
“I think a lot of people think maybe acting’s a bit about, you know, showing off yourself but actually, well I do it to escape me. And then you watch a film but you go ‘oh it’s still me again’ you know?”
—Helena Bonham Carter

My feelings towards Riley get pretty interesting you know? It’s all done in phases:
- oh hi cute college guy, I like you, I’m not supposed to like you but I do and this is all wrong please do something bad so I can hate you like I should
- good I can hate you now you’re now all Initiative-y and can’t have a mind of your own! Damn, I get that this season is all about finding yourself but please start thinking fast
- oh my poor little puppy dog who wants to be there for Buffy but she’s not easy emotionally and he doesn’t feel good enough
- … Riley sweetie those vamps are maybe a little too much, just a little
- OH YOU STUPID ULTIMATUM GUY! BUFFY DID GOOD TO LET YOU GO!
- … he’s sort of nice now… I sort of like him… he should’ve mentioned Sam before but… he’s all back to being good guy Riley
And it’s funny because I’m loving Angel because of greyness and just look at all the greyness here! There’s lots of wrong but very human choices. The issue is it’s all done through phases and I don’t have the whole love/hate thing Angel’s people have constantly going on and that they do so well.
