Fantasy is hardly an escape from reality.
It's a way of understanding it.

But they did… They got married, they had a son, they a life together and, even if just for some months, they were happy. I do wish they’ve had more time but I think neither of them regrets it. They were happy and died to give their son a better life, they had a chance and, under the circumstances, made the best out of it.
